Martin Gretschmann
The sampler as favorite instrument
Born in the seventies in Bavaria/Germany, Martin Gretschmann started to play bass guitar in a punk/indie band in the late eighties, while at the same time developing a growing interest in the evolution of electronic music and their instruments. Especially the introduction of affordable samplers in that period led him towards the production of his own electronic music. His first tracks under the name Console were released in 1995 and with the help of an Atari computer, a four-track, a sampler and a little synthesizer he made his first album Pan or ama which was released in 1996. At about the same time, he joined The Notwist and since then takes care of the electronic sounds in the band. Console quickly evolved into a band, too.
After releasing several records (and a track on a Björk album), remixes, even radioplays (together with Andreas Ammer) and touring excessively, Martin decided to start a solo project again: Acid Pauli. The club oriented live set morphed over the years into an advanced DJ set, and incorporates not only techno and house, but all different kinds of music. In 2004 the transcontinental group 13&God with members of The Notwist and the experimental hip hop crew Themselves (Oakland) was added to the list of bands Mr. Gretschmann is part of.
In 2005 he joined a little group of people who opened a music club in Munich called Rote Sonne which ever since has been the playground for internationally renowned DJs, live acts and bands. In mid-2012 he released an Acid Pauli album called mst, and Melodyne played a crucial part in helping to put the tracks together. Watch his great hands-on video in which he explains his fields of application for Melodyne.

Part II: Hands on Melodyne
Sound guru and beat maniac Martin Gretschmann doesn’t use Melodyne for tuning of vocals but rather for experiments. In the hands-on video Martin shows his fields of application for Melodyne, among other things the refashioning of samples and Audio-to-MIDI.
