Rob Kelly

A graduate of the Tonmeister course, Rob Kelly started his career as an assistant engineer at UK residential studio complex Jacobs Studios, where he worked with numerous artists and producers including The Cure, BT, Portishead, Jhelisa Andersen, Nicolette and Alec Empire.

Rob then worked as a Pro Tools product specialist for Avid Audio (then Digidesign) for four years, contributing several features to the development of Pro Tools, before joining Strongroom Studios in 2002 as business development manager. Strongroom merged with AIR Studios in 2006, and Rob was made a director of the group, a position in which he continued until 2010, his main work being the development and management of the post-pro facilities.   

Specializing in music production and mixing using Pro Tools, Rob is currently mixing four tracks for DJ Yoda's forthcoming album, and recently finished editing and mixing Cinematic Beauty, a 21 track orchestral sound-track album recorded at AIR Studios, which he co-produced with composer Ruth Barrett for EMI Production Music. Rob's other work includes post production sound, film making and session recording.

Rob is percussionist for London based Balkan brass group The Trans-Siberian March Band, and he also plays bass and cello. Recent session recording work includes cello and bass guitar for Ruth Barrett on a BBC/HBO drama series, percussion for Russian artist Igor Gregoriev at Abbey Road Studios and percussion for M.I.A, recorded at Strongroom.
