Licensing using the iLok

The portable license for studio-hopping

With the iLok option, you can operate Melodyne on as many computers as you like — provided the iLok dongle is inserted into a USB port: an elegant solution that allows you to move freely from computer to computer and from studio to studio.

All Melodyne versions already come with an iLok option free of charge. Melodyne essential does not have the iLok option.

If you have no iLok, you should be able to purchase one from any well-stocked music dealer; it will cost you around 40 euros/US$ and offers room for the licenses of many different manufacturers. After purchasing your iLok, go to www.ilok.com to create an account and manage your licenses.

How do I transfer my Melodyne license to the iLok?

If you haven't done so yet, please open your personal user account at myCelemony. Follow the instructions under "Transfer iLok license".

The old license window in Melodyne

For the iLok option to work, you must first have installed both Melodyne and the iLok software on your computer. Then, to run Melodyne, simply insert your iLok dongle in the USB port and choose the iLok activation in the activation assistant. In earlier Melodyne versions (cre8 and studio before Version 3.2, uno and essential before Version 1.8) and in Melodyne plugin you need to switch from 'Challenge/Response' to 'iLok' in the Melodyne license window. It is not necessary to provide any further information.

If you have any further questions about the iLok, please read the corresponding entries in our FAQ or the FAQ at www.ilok.com.

As an alternative to the iLok dongle, you can also activate your Melodyne with the online or offline activation that the activation assistant offers. In earlier program versions you can also use the Challenge/Response procedure.
