Updates and upgrades from current editions
Updates
Melodyne checks once a week to see whether a newer version is available. You can change this interval from the Preferences property sheet in Melodyne and also check for an update manually with the Check Now function.

In this way, you can also obtain the following current updates:
- Melodyne editor Version 1 to Version 2: the update costs US$99. It is free if you registered Melodyne after October 1, 2011.
- Melodyne assistant Version 1 to Version 2: this update is free of charge.
- Melodyne essential Version 1 to Version 2: this update is free of charge.
Upgrades
There are four editions of Melodyne that differ in price and range of functions. Our comparative table gives you a clear overview. We have summarized for you here the most important upgrades and their advantages.

We recommend the upgrade to Melodyne editor, which brings you a clearly expanded range of functions and possibilities:
- DNA Direct Note Access for polyphonic material – edit piano, guitar and other polyphonic instruments
- Additional tools for vibrato, drift, formants and volume – more control, more possibilities
- Extended timing tools – control the attack and the time course within notes
- Comprehensive functions for working with scales – create, edit and extract scales from recordings
- The saving of your audio materials as a MIDI file – double vocals, piano and more in your DAW with MIDI sounds

- Choose License from Melodyne’s Help menu followed by Upgrade to Melodyne editor
- You will be logged in to our web shop automatically – all that remains is to pay.
- You will receive your personal installation program and be able to work with Melodyne editor as soon as the installation is complete.

The upgrade to Melodyne editor brings you decisive new functions and possibilities:

- Save audio as MIDI – with Melodyne editor also with polyphonic material

Melodyne editor is our top-of-the-range, single-track Melodyne edition, so no upgrade to a more powerful edition exists.
If you wish to have a multi-track edition of Melodyne as well, we recommend the upgrade to Melodyne studio bundle. With it you will receive in addition Melodyne studio 3, which works with an unlimited number of tracks, though the current version does not offer DNA Direct Note Access.
