    Greetings,

I'm using Melodyne Editor Singletrack. I have a piece with 4 saxes recorded on separate tracks I want to transpose from C major to Eb major. I loaded the plugin (I'm using logic or pro tools) and transfered the audio. Melodyne correctly understands the original key is C major. I select all. I have chromatic snap turned on. I drag up 3 "clicks" and I'm left with some very interesting harmonies, but not what I was looking for.

No doubt I'm just not seeing this in the tutorials or the manual and will appreciate any help I can get.

    Thanks

    Hello emjayinla,

    Welcome to our forum.

So you have individual tracks of each saxophone part? And have you inserted four Melodyne instances and transferred each of the four sax parts to its own Melodyne instance? Are you aware you need to transpose all blobs in all Melodyne instances?

Or are you perhaps working with a submix?

    ?

    Thank you for you reply.

Yes to all - separate tracks, Melodyne on each track, transposed each instance separately. And no, I'm not working from a submix.

Here's what I found - it worked once I went through and separated all the triplets - some were in a single blob and when I separated them and then transposed it worked better.

But shouldn't I be able to select everything and move it up and it all relatively moves together? Did I need to, or not to, save key or something?

    Thanks again.

    Hello emjayinla,

It’s hard to give any advice without knowing your material, but apparently you forgot to check the note detection after the audio transfer and before you started editing. A correct analysis is the basis for Melodyne’s calculations for the pitch algorithm and automatic formant correction. If you skip that step, your results might sound funny. Please see here for details.
