I see on the Sonar forum that there is a free upgrade for Melodyne that has some bug fixes and some improvements for memory use.

Recently, I had to reinstall Melodyne because of a system crash. My Sonar project files were OK, but after reinstallation of Melodyne, Melodyne Assistant could not find the transfer files and I had to redo a lot of work.

IMPORTANT QUESTION: Will installing this upgrade/fix put my transfer files at risk? I cannot afford to lose any work right now.

    Thanks.

On 2 systems here, one WinXP and the other Win7_64, I just updated without uninstalling the previous version and all the work is found correctly.

Thanks, Christo. That is encouraging. I now use SyncToy to back up the Melodyne files, so all would not be lost—but it would be a pain to restore them all.

When I upgraded from plugin to editor 2.0, I lost about 80% of my edits. I even had the files, but each Editor instance was pointing to the wrong set of files and it would have taken longer to go through and try to match stuff up than just do it over. I use Sonar as well and will never again do any kind of upgrade without cloning my tracks and applying all the effects so I can at least start where I left off.

    Hello guys,

All our current Melodyne (singletrack) editions are built to be backwards-compatible and can open older Melodyne plugin files (and downwards-compatbile for different Melodyne editions). Just make sure that the folder structure and file paths on your system are the same as before. Also, do not delete the Transfer folder or any files in there.

Obviously, after a system crash or after reinstalling or upgrading your complete setup, your file paths or folder contents might have changed, so this could easily be an explanation for Melodyne not finding the required files automatically. In these cases, you can reassign missing files. See this tour from our online manual.
