    Hello,
I am just wondering: Why cant I transport a MSL.wav file directly from my Mel-Studio to a Cubase Audio track per drag & drop ? I tried to do it also vice versa with the audio-import function from Cubase in the windows explorer but Cubase cannot open .msl. I want to avoid to save the MSL.wav first of all with Mel Studio and then transport to Cubase
    Regards Christian/Germany

    Hi
I don't use Cubase so specifics on that has to be answered by another. But generally, when a file has been transferred into Melodyne and gone through analyse/detection it is not a wav or aiff-file anymore. It's a temporary Melodyne-format working file that Cubase (or Logic) will not recognize. As soon as you "save file as audio.." wav or aiff, it is again a normal audio-file and you can drag and drop it in from where you put it.
Of course I want the same, drag and drop it right out of the Melodyne-window. But the software would have to be rebuilt to enable that de-analysing and keep saved wav-audio in the window.

It should be possible to choose save as audio and keep the file in the window so put the Q in the wish-list as for now and lets hope Celemony reads it  I would like to drag and drop audio right out of Logics arrange window (into Melodyne for example) because drag and drop is the choice of the users but I can't, yet.

    Hello Creator,
yes, it would be nice to import .wav from Cubase into MS and back from MS to Cubase with drag and drop and without nerve-racking audio save procedure. But I meant something else:
I have bought these Melodyne Sound Library sample CD`s(MSL). These samples turn up in the Melody Manager as real .wav files. They can be dragged and dropped into the Editor window to be edited. But I cant drag and drop them directly from the Melody Manager into Cubase. I use the VariAudio tool in Cubase5 to edit my audio files, only in complex cases I come back again to MS or rather if I build up choirs. Thats why I wanted to import these MSL files - as they were recorded - into Cubase as simple as possible, to edit them there a bit

    Hello Christian,

in addition to what creater wrote, the .msl file is a generic file format for Melodyne. It's an archive file that keeps all the samples from the Library as well as the corresponding Melodyne Detection Data (.mdd). The idea is to load them into Melodyne, tweak them to your heart's content and export them as audio files, e.g. for your DAW.
