I used the file menu to open a wav file. When I played it the first time the screen would auto scroll whenever the play head cursor moved past the right edge of the window.

Then I did a pitch correction and a few other things. Then When I played the wav again, auto-scroll no longer worked. I had to close the program and re-open it to get auto scroll to start working again, even though it remains selected/turned on in the View menu.

Is this a bug? Or did I do something to turn auto-scroll off without realizing what I did? Sorry I cant tell you more precisely what I did before it stopped working, but I wasn't expecting it to quit working.

I just tried again and I notice auto-scroll does not work if I have a note selected.

Is this by design? If I unselect the note, then the screen will auto-scroll again.

Is that all I did? I had a note selected and that disables auto-scroll?

I will pay attention closer next time, to see if auto-scroll quits working when I do not have any notes selected.

Yes, a selected blob anywhere will block the auto-scroll. It is not a desirable behavior. All types of edits will leave the blob selected and this means that after every edit! you must remember to click in the background to de-select. Otherwise the playhead will disappear out of the screen.
So your question is justified: why does auto-scroll quit working when a blob is selected?

I agree.......it is not desirable behaviour, at least not for my style of working.

    Hello,

yes, this is by design. Usually you select a blob because you wish to edit it. That's why Melodyne keeps the focus on the selected blob and auto-scroll is temporarily disabled. I understand that this is not what you want after you have already done your edits. But in these cases, a simple click in the background to unselect any blobs and to re-enable auto-scrolling does not really hurt, does it?

    Thanks....

I understand your logic, and I'll live and work around it.

Might be nice if I could have an option some where to turn that behaviour on/off. Be nice if I could choose whether or not note selection disables auto-scroll.

Now that I'm using it more, it's not so bad. Easy to get used to. Thanks!

Does anyone have a good workaround for this behavior? I find that I spend about 20% of my time in Melodyne constantly clicking on the "white space" to get it to scroll in play. I wish there was a way to turn off this behavior so it would always scroll in play, regardless of what is selected... just like other mainstream sequencers like Logic and etc. behave.....
