I'm producing some country music demos using some actual "Pedal steel guitar" wav loops. When I try to edit the files in Melodyne, (i.e. add sustain to a note) it starts to sound computer generated. I'm pretty good with editing vocals in Melodyne. Any idea what I can do to minimize the computer altered effect?

    Thanks.

    Hello macwriter,

I suppose this is some polyphonic audio material? And is it Melodyne editor that you are using? Or Melodyne essential, as your profile says? Are you aware that you need the DNA technology in Melodyne editor for accessing and editing individual notes in chords and to avoid artefacts?

Also, for best results it is crucial that Melodyne has detected your audio correctly, e.g. that it finds all the notes properly and that all note separations are at the right place. Please see this tour from our online manual for details.

    Hi macwriter,
I'm a total newbie here, so trust me and try this if you want . . .
Putting a bit of real electric guitar behind the note and holding the sustain can help. A bit tricky, but adds a human touch to it, if you can get it to hide behind the pedal steel just until you need the sustain-y bit. If you don't have a real guitar, you can get single-note samples and tweak to suit.
    Hope it helps.
    :D
