I'd like to identify all of the notes associated with (in my case) a soprano sax solo whose volume should be increased. I can of course select each blob, and hope nothing goes wrong in the middle of the process; however, it feels like it would be natural and generally useful to be able to 'group' blobs in a permanent way, and ideally label them all as 'soprano' or some such for later editing. Depending on patience and motivation, I might continue with other instruments in this jazz band to adjust other parameters (like fix that awful out-of-tune bass trombone line).

I looked a bit at the manual and the Forum and did not fall on a technique to associate a collection of blobs with a particular instrument. Basically a 'grouping' option, ideally with a name label.

    Is it possible?

If not, does this sound like a useful addition? Certainly not a hard thing to code, in comparison with the underlying analysis algorithms!

    Hello dhs,

You don’t mention your Melodyne edition, but I suppose you are using the DNA algorithm in Melodyne editor, right? Originally, DNA was designed for single polyphonic instruments. But I guess you can’t stop people from feeding it with full mixes and ensemble tracks, can you? ;)

Anyway, there is currently no grouping option, and I can see where your suggestion might make sense. I will gladly move your thread to our Features Wish List.

Claudio, thanks, all clear -- I have to admit that I did not pick up on the fact that I should stick with one instrument! still one could e.g., choose to label all the notes of the melody or of a given inner voice to modify it as a group, so even if the tool were to be used as intended the grouping+naming option could be quite useful.

So, I second the nomination to the wish list.

    thanks

    David
