Hi Skyline

I am having similar problems with Melodyne Editor plug-in (which I bought last week) in X1b (not updated to X1c as I wanted to finish the current project first).

Mine is not a SandyBridge problem as I am running a Q9550 CPU on a P5QL-E motherboard. Oh and I haven't updated to W7SP1 yet either just W7Pro x64 with all updates apart from SP1.

Melodyne Editor is stable and running well in standalone mode but as a plug-in it is struggling to remain stable even on short transfers and crashes X1 regularly.

Tech support suggested I might have RAM issues but Task Manager is reporting 4.71Gb of RAM in use (of a total of 8Gb).

They are now asking me to try unloading Kontakt from my project.....I'll do that tonight when I'm at my DAW.....

Have you logged a *.dmp file with Cakewalk? I haven't as yet but intend to this evening.

Sorry to hear you're having the same grief. I was getting this well before X1c, by the way, so I don't think that's the culprit.
So; we can conclude it's not due to Sandy Bridge processors, W7 64bit, or RAM (I had 8GB and went up to 14GB and the locking/crashing didn't change).

I'll also refer it to CW. Are the .dmp files the ones I can see here:
C:\Users\ME\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Sonar X1 Producer\MiniDumps\Plugins

I am seeing these same crashes except that I am running Melodyne Editor 2. Right now Melodyne 2 is pretty much unusable in SONAR X1 (64bit) . I can transfer the audio. However, usually after making a few changes Melodyne will freeze up completely and then cause SONAR to crash. This behavior is 100% repeatable.

I have not been able to determine if Melodyne or Cakewalk is actively looking into this based on the feedback in this thread. I have tried the suggestions listed in this and other threads and none of them have resolved the problem.

Well, Melodyne aren't looking into it. They regard their software as absolutely fine and therefore any problem lies with the user's other software or hardware. :evil:

I submitted crash dump files to Cakewalk and the response was equivocal. Reports 6491, 6334, 6341 were eventually acknowledged as "Submitted to Development", good news. Unfortunately 6727 (for the same crash) was rated "Third Party Related", bad news. None of the three "Submitted to Development" ones turned up in the recent X1c Quick Fixes.

Are you saying that you had no crashes with Editor 1 but now you have with Editor 2? Really odd. Editor 1 for me has always crashed in Sonar after four or five minutes. I was contemplating paying for the upgrade but you've made my mind up for me.

No. I meant that Celemony is not actively investigating why so many Sonar users have the same freeze/lockup/crash problem. Just because you cannot reproduce the same effect in 'the lab' doesn't mean it doesn't exist for many, many users!

Please note we recommend Sonar X1c in 64 Bit and 1024 samples buffer.
Please, let me know about your problems, whether these are reproducable.
Include the systems specs and the steps to reproduce the issue.
If possible let me know about the files sizes, bit depths, transfer lengths and track count etc.
Also check your task manager's CPU and RAM load.

I know you think it's just me that has this problem, so I just thought I'd post this latest link to the Sonar X1 forum. What you need to realise is that a lot of Sonar users 'vote with their feet' - i.e. they give up and use something else. (Studio One is my case....)
