    Melodyne essential
    Hello Board,

I am a recent new user of Melodyne Essential (the program was bundled with my purchase of Pro Tools LE; found on my Ignition Pack Disc). I am looking to upgrade my version of Melodyne for a specific reason, and was hoping someone here could advise me on which version to upgrade to. I am looking for the capability to manipulate the individual wave clusters with a pencil tool. For instance, the Essential version that I am using now does not seem to let me be that detailed. Rather it lets me tighten up the vibrato in these clusters while still keeping their original shape in ratio. However, I have seen videos online of people using Melodyne, and basically overwriting the individual wave clusters with such a tool. I'm not sure what that particular feature is called, and so I am a little blind as to what version of Melodyne I should be looking for. Please forgive me for my lamen terminology, but I would appreciate any help. Thank you!

    Hello muzikmkr7,

welcome to the forum. There is no pencil tool in Melodyne. What you are probably looking for is our Pitch Modulation tool. This is available in all Melodyne editions except for Melodyne essential.

    Claudio,

Thanks for your help! One last question though. I will most likely upgrade to "Assistant", but do you happen to know if there is a plugin version available that doesn't require you to open Melodyne as a third party application via Melodyne Bridge. I thought there was a way to just use Melodyne as a plugin similar to an EQ plugin or compressor plugin though I could be wrong. Please forgive my lack of experience in this matter. Any clarification is much appreciated!

    Hello again,

the MelodyneBridge is only available in Melodyne studio. All other Melodyne editions come as both a stand-alone program and a plug-in (AU, VST, RTAS) in compatible DAWs. So Melodyne assistant should be fine for you.
