Hi -
I've got Cre8 3.2 running on Windows XP SP2. I had it running on Cubase SX3, and I just recently upgraded to Cubase 6.00, but haven't tested it there yet, can't tell if they're compatible (I can't find much about Cre8 on the Melodyne website to check ...).
I run small simple projects, and I really only am looking to edit monophonic vocal lines. Cre8 3.1.2 worked OK on my Cubase SX3 on Windows XP. I was initially hoping to do all the vocal editing within Cubase using its VariAudio function, both to keep it within the program and also to keep the $$ down. But there are some bugs in Cubase 6 VariAudio currently, so I'm taking a look at Melodyne again.
I'm wondering:
1) Is Cre8 3.2 compatible with Cubase 6.00?
Assuming it's not, I'm figuring Essential is the best match to the old Cre8 for monophonic editing (meaning for only a single vocal line at a time - I don't need DNA, besides I don't have $250 now to spend on Melodyne Assistant). So this raises the question: 2) If I wanted to upgrade to Melodyne Essential to use on Cubase 6.00, is the newer Melodyne Essential compatible with my Windows XP SP2? . I see "SP3" listed, so I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd check (you never know ... for example, Cubase 6.00 is "not supported" for Windows XP, but works just fine on my and many other XP DAWs).
As it stands now, I can always import the vocal .wav from Cubase 6.00 into Cubase SX3, use Cre8 3.2 to edit, then export back to Cubase 6.00. 3) Are there any technical advances/tools Melodyne Essential has that would make it worthwhile for me to dump Cre8 3.2 and buy Essential (assuming it is Windows XP SP2 compatible)?
Thanks in advance for any advice - I really appreciate it!

Hello Alexis,
Melodyne cre8 is a discontinued product, so we won't test it with newer DAWs any longer. However, the MelodyneBridge in Melodyne cre8 is the same as in Melodyne studio, and so far I haven't heard any complaints about the MelodyneBridge not working with Cubase 6. So my guess is that you should be fine. Let us know if you experience any problems.

Thanks Claudio!
A couple more of quick questions if I could:
1) Is there a "Legacy" site where I could download the latest Cre8 that was released?
2) What tools/advantages does "Essential" bring to the table above and beyond Cr8, if I were thinking of buying that?
Thanks again!

Hello Alexis, re 1) You should still find the installer for Melodyne cre8 in your myCelemony account. re 2) All recent Melodyne editions have an overall improved sound quality and some nice usability improvements. Please note, however, that Melodyne essential is not a multitrack application. Also, it only features the Main tool and not the set of expert tools you know from Melodyne cre8. May I point you to the Melodyne essential product page and the comparison chart?
