    Hi All,
I've got the trial version of Melodyne Editor 2.0 which works fine but only does single track editing. I was just wondering in anyone knew if the full version does Multi track editing, because I want to do harmonies.

    Thanks

    Hello Dooks71,

I should add that naturally you can also create harmonies with Melodyne editor. Either by copying and pasting within the same Melodyne plug-in instance (or the standalone program), or by duplicating a part to another track in your DAW and inserting another Melodyne instance there.

If you need multiple tracks in Melodyne itself, you should have a look at our multi-track edition Melodyne studio.

    Hi Claudio,

I tried copying and pasting but it pated on top of itself and would only move let to right not up or down. I'm not sure what you meant by the second bit of advice. I'm new to all of this so I'm struggling a bit.
I'm also getting a sort of out of sync audio when i save my Melodyne editing as an Aif but not when I save as a Melodyne project, and the project doesn't always seem to save the changes i've made when I play it back in Logic. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? (I'm not using it as a plug-in)

    Sorry about the multiple questions.

    Thanks

    Hello Dooks71,

Yes, the notes will be pasted on themselves first, but after that they can be freely moved to wherever you want. Doesn’t that work for you?

Let’s say you have recorded a singer in Logic. Copy the vocal track to a new audio track in Logic. On each track you insert a dedicated Melodyne plug-in instance and transfer the audio. Now you can edit both voices independently. Moreover, each track will have its own mixer channel which is advantageous if you want to mix them differently, e.g. different volume or stereo balance or FX settings. If, on the other hand, you build all harmony parts in one Melodyne window only, all parts would share the same mixer channel.

So how exactly are you using Melodyne, if it is not the plug-in? Also, have you got tempo changes in your Logic song? Which exact Logic version is this? Are you familiar with all the options in the Save dialog, e.g. the Cycle only option? Is the sample rate in Melodyne the same as in Logic?

Hi Claudio, thanks for your help.

I think I'm starting to understand it a bit more. I tried the cut and paste again and was able to move the notes in all directions so that's OK now.

The way I have been editing with Melodyne was to right click my audio and open the track in Melodyne then when the edit was complete I would open it back up through Logic 9 (as if I was importing). I've only now just opened Melodyne in logic as a plug-in to edit my audio but can't work out how to get my audio into the Melodyne window in this way (it's just an empty window).

As for the audio being out of sync, I did notice the 'Cycle Only' option but wasn't sure what it was so I didn't check the box. Does the 'Cycle Only' button help with sync? The tempo in my track stays the same all the way through but I noticed that in Melodyne it keeps changing. I highlighted the whole audio and tried to change the tempo but nothing happened.

I know I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure out what it is.

    Many Thanks again

    Hello Dooks71,

You need to transfer Logic’s audio to the Melodyne plug-in before you can edit it. I recommend that you read our online manual first, at least the Quick Start Guide. This should already answer most of your questions.
