    Hey.

What video do you refer to? What is your Essential version? Which host have you got?

So you really want to record in Essential? I would normally open an existing file from the File menu. If record is not enabled, check also the Preferences and make sure your soundcard is selected.

There is plenty of ReWire info in the FAQ: http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=faq

Okay, and what does your Essential look like? Have you got a screenshot? Check also the version number in the About menu.

I suppose you don't have Melodyne Essential RTAS yet, which the videos are about. You must have some earlier Essential version. You can either update your Melodyne in your myCelemony account, or see the FAQ link above for instructions on how to work with ReWire.

    Melodyne essential
I have the same problem and would be very grateful for the solution.

The installation of Melodyne has failed as follows:

WE ACQUIRED THE MBOX 2 WITH PROTOOLS LE ONE WEEK AGO. ALL 3RD PARTY SOFTWARE INCLUDING Melodyne WAS INSTALLED AS PART OF THE SETUP PROCESS. THE DIGIDESIGN SUPPORT DESK ALSO ADVISED AN UPGRADE TO Melodyne, WHICH WAS SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED. AS PER PAGE 17 OF THE MANUAL 'Manual_Melodyne_essential_RTAS_1.0_English', WE DID THE FOLLOWING:

"Open in Pro Tools the project you wish to edit.
Load Melodyne essential as an audio insert effect in the audio track containing
the material you wish to edit. Position Melodyne essential above any insert effects
you may be using in the track.
Move the playback cursor in Pro Tools to a point before the beginning of the passage
you wish to edit with Melodyne essential.
Click the ‘Transfer’ button at the top left of the Melodyne essential window to
prepare it to accept the transfer."

    1. Melodyne IS LISTED IN THE 'INSTRUMENT' MENU, NOT 'OTHER' (AS SHOWN ON VIDEO TUTORIAL)
    2. Melodyne IS NOT LISTED IN 'OTHER'
    3. A SMALL WINDOW OPENS IN PRO TOOLS SHOWING JUST A LOGO AND A STEREO SELECT BUTTON
    4. THE STEREO SELECT BUTTON DOES NOTHING
    5. THE Melodyne WINDOW IS BLANK. IT DOES NOT OPEN A NEW FILE. THERE IS NO 'TRANSPORT' BUTTON IF A FILE IS MANUALLY OPENED BY THE USER IN Melodyne

    Please help!

    Setup details:

    - which version of Melodyne:
    Essentials 1.8.1.3

    - operating system:
    Windows XP Pro v5.1 SP3

    - what computer hardware you are using and its specifications:
    Dell Latitude D530
    Intel Core 2 Duo CPU
    T7250 2.00GHz
    1.99GHz, 1.99 GB RAM

    - what audio and MIDI hardware you are using:
    Digidesign MBox 2

    - which host application you are using:
    Pro Tools 8.0 LE

    - whether or not you have been able to reproduce the error:
YES - HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY EVERY TIME

    - how Melodyne reacted — did it display an error message or freeze up?
    NO

    - what (if any) error message appeared — try to get a screenshot:
    NONE

    - whether the error is data-specific — does it only occur with one particular file or data format?
NO - HAPPENS WITH NEW BLANK SESSION OR EXISTING SESSIONS

    Hello Harrymatter,

The link Claudio provided describes the way to solve it quite clearly.
Just to make it 100% safe:

You are running the old version of Melodyne essential, which runs as a stand alone application, connected to Pro Tools via ReWire.
What you see in the Video tutorial is the new Melodyne essential RTAS version. To update to this version you need to visit your myCelemony account. http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=mycelemony
Please follow the instructions given there to upgrade to the new version. You'll receive a new serial number, so the old one will not work anymore.
Prior to the install of the new version you should remove the old version from your computer. To remove Melodyne from your computer, please make use of the Windows uninstaller (Control Panel > Software).
Now restart and run the installer for Melodyne essential RTAS. After this operation you should find Melodyne essential in the Other category in the Plug-Ins popup list.

    Nils
