I just upgraded to Windows 7 (64-bit) and re-installed Melodyne Editor 1.2.0 (64-bit) I get an unhandled Exception error while I'm working in the Note Assignment mode. I never had a problem before when I was running Melodyne Editor on Windows XP (32-bit).

    Have you seen this before?

Do you know of a solution?

    Hello Sancamalion,

welcome to our forum. I'm not sure if this solves the issue, but since you are under Windows 7, could you please try to run the installer as an administrator (right-click the setup file to see this option) and also run the stand-alone program as an admin once it is installed. Does this help already?

If it doesn't, please contact us by e-mail.

I have editor on trial running on Windows7 32 bit.

Today, it has been almost impossible to use it because of the frequency of crashes. When it crashes, it not only shuts down, but it leaves me with a blank file for previously saved versions of the same name. I too was working in Note Assignment.

I have seen the response above, and I need to know if I can safely reinstall it as administrator over the existing copy while it is on trial

    Hello wynauburn,

welcome to our forum. Yes, re-installing the trial version should be okay.

But tell me, do you also get the error message above? Or does Melodyne just crash? Perhaps you might like to open a new thread about this.

Yes, after editing in Note Assignment mode. I get the Unhandeled Error Exception message. Most often this happens when I hit the save button when it not only crashes but wipes out my saved file with the same name so I lose everything.

I have taken to editing and saving alternately to two file names but this is hardly conducive to workflow.

I have re-run the installer as administrator and run the program as administrator but I am still getting the Unhandled Exception error, only so far on Save. I have tried using the "Save as" button and thought I'd avoided the problem but it eventually re-surfaced. It happens after heavy editing of note assignments. Any further suggestions would be welcome as I can't use it for professional work this way.

    Hello wynauburn,

sorry about the crashes. What is your audio buffer size? Have you set it to 1,024 samples as recommended? Does this happen with any file or just a particular one? And are you using the plug-in or the standalone variant of Melodyne editor?

    Thanks Claudio.

The buffer is at 1024 and I am running Editor as stand-alone. These crashes happen on all my files. They seem to occur when I hit the Save button after editing note assignments when cleaning up the first analysis, even when I am working in small chunks and saving often. This computer is only three weeks old so does not carry much baggage.

After scouring the internet and finding this problem in windows for other audio software was caused by add-ons, I have a disabled a visual 20/20 3D Explorer8 add-on that I acquired through a kitchen planning program from Ikea. Don't know why this should be a problem but it was the only non-microsoft add-on listed. So far so good. I will post again if I have more crashes.

Yes, although I have an Ikea Kitchen, and am very happy with it, I would never recommend their Windows programming ....

Hi all. I am using the Editor 2 Trial and getting this "Unhandled Exception" error as well, with the stand-alone version. I can use the program a few minutes then get the error and it closes every time.
I am using Windows 7 32bit, buffer size at 1024, everything is up to date with no other running software in the backround. HELP ; )

    Hello malibusun,

Welcome to our forum. What exactly does your error message say? Do you use the trial as a standalone program or as a plug-in? Have you already followed all advice given in this thread? Please see also this thread and let me know if anything helps.

I too get the same thing when I Save, unhandled exception caught. In Albeton, after double clicking on an audio file in a track, two windows appear on the bottom left side of the screen, Clip and Sample. In Sample, you have a button called Edit, this launches the file to an external audio editor of your choice the first time you run it; I chose that progam to be Melodyne. I can always successfully launch the program from clicking that button but only SOME files are loaded while others just load the Melodyne application with nothing to edit. What is being done about this? Do I need to upgrade to Editor? Is money the solution to this problem? I am using Essential to get practice editing vocals because the program has the least amount of options which makes it easier for a novice to familiarize themselves with the basic tools before jumping directly into a robust, feature-filled program, where trying to remember where everything is and what everything does, is more challenging...when all you need is just basic tuning for a singer, that is usually on key all the time.

    I am using:
WinXP on a Dual Core system
    Ableton Live 8
    Stand-alone Single Track Essential 2.0.1 32bit

Let us know if you come across these "unhandled exceptions".
I can see that in both cases "matrixation" and "malibusun", 32 bit systems are in use.
    Please verify if you
    a. have set your buffersize for your audio-interface to 1024 samples
    b. you may have reached the RAM border of 32 Bit which in this case is at approx. 2 GB. You can verify this in the the Windows task manager.
