I'm trying to decide what the $100 difference is between the two. I wouldn't normally use Melodyne to fix the pitch or timing of 3 or 4 part chords, but as a single note melody editor.

However, if I could easily copy and paste melody lines within Melodyne and turn them into 3 or 4 part harmony sections all at once that would be worth the $100 for me.

Does it work that way? I'd love to know before I spend the money. If it can't do that I probably only need the assistant version.

welcome to our forum and thanks for your post. The only difference between Melodyne editor and Melodyne assistant is the DNA Direct Note Access technology in Melodyne editor. DNA can analyze your polyphonic audio files and make their individual notes accessible for editing. If, on the other hand, you want to start with a monophonic melody and create some polyphonic textures from it by copying and pasting notes, you don't even need DNA for that. Melodyne assistant can do that, too!

And if you find out that you might want to advance to some DNA editing one day, you can easily upgrade to Melodyne editor for just the price difference between the two editions. In other words, you won't lose any money by going for Melodyne assistant first.
