    Hello,

I see I can now activate and download Editor 2.0, but 1.3 license is deactivated when doing so.

Does it mean I can use 2.0 with complete compatibility in existing (REAPER) projects using 1.3?

No data/plugin setting loss to be expected?

If so, and I want to test V2.0 reliability before replacing completely 1.3, can a 2.0 trial be installed side by side with an already installed 1.3 or does the 2.0 trial always replace 1.3?

    Thank you,
    Mario

    Hello Mario,

generally speaking, the 2.0 update is designed to be backwards-compatible. Please note, however, that we have not officially tested Melodyne with Reaper, neither any previous versions nor the current one. Therefore we cannot guarantee compatibility here.

Regarding your second question, both the full version and the Trial of version 2.0 will replace any previous Melodyne versions.

Here is what you should do and know:
    • Load and install the Trial version from our website
    • On its first launch the Trial will ask you for activation, after which it will run for 30 days without any limitations. During this time you won't be able to work with your 1.3 version.
    • If you decide against the update after the trial period, you can load the old 1.3 installer from your myCelemony account and reinstall it.

Please note: songs made with 1.3 open in Version 2.0 and can be edited, but not vice versa. If you save your song with Version 2.0 (both Trial and purchased copy), it will be "read only" if you re-open it in Version 1.3. To be on the safe side, you sould therefore make a backup of your song that has Melodyne version 1.3, before you try out version 2.0 to your heart's content. If later you want to return to your old Melodyne copy, you still have your backup to continue your work.

    Thank you Claudio.

Actually my first question wasn't about reliability of the plugin in REAPER (I hope it will be officially supported soon anyway, maybe with the awesome integration of ARA by Cockos).
I was instead asking if I could load flawlessly a project started with Melodyne 1.3 after installing 2.0; I presume it is so, but I was looking for confirmations :)

About second question, I was afraid that downloading the 2.0 installer would cause a 1.3 installation to immediately cease working in activated mode (because your site says that just clicking "Upgrade now", thus upgrading the license to 2.0, cause deactivation of the 1.3 license).

I have now upgraded the license, but still 1.3 loads in my projects as activated, so it seems the 2.0 license allows running 1.3 as well as 2.0.

    Thanks,
    Mario

    Mario,

as I said, the 2.0 Trial or full program should replace the old one. It surprises me that your experience differs. If this is a problem for you, our support people ask you to contact them by e-mail (support AT celemony DOT com) and send them your serial number, so they can look up what is going on on your system.

    Sorry Claudio,

actually there is no problem currently: I just upgraded the license to 2.0 using my Celemony account and downloaded the 2.0 installer but DID NOT install 2.0 yet.

1.3 is still running as licensed, and this is good, because it proves, as you said, that I can install 2.0 and, if I choose to uninstall and go back to 1.3, the 2.0 activation still allows me to run 1.3.

Sorry for not being clear enough.

    Thank you,
    Mario

    Hello Mario,

version 2 of Melodyne editor uses a new format. Old data will be converted and cannot be opened with 1.3 anymore. Therefore a warning pops up. If it is a trial you are working with, duplicate your project first.
