Melodyne editor
Hello
I was excited to find that rewire is back in version 2 of Editor. The problem I am having is that when I open a file, Melodyne correctly displays the track tempo (126) in the tempo box but then shows what it detects the audio file to be next to it (125.7). It then proceeds to manipulate the audio to match the daw tempo. I know this is the default behaviour but the audio I am wanting to tune has been sung with a certain feel and so I simply want to tune it and not move the timing at all. Is there any way to open an audio file using the rewire method without this happening. I simply want to open the vocal file and tune without Melodyne presuming I want to change tempo.

Mac OS X 10.8.2 Logic Pro 9.1.8 Ableton Live 8
I did make a request earlier for a "Rewire run-through" in the Video tutorials official wish-list. This might be one of the scenarios that could be covered by such a tut in real life. If I export an audio from Logic and open that file in Singletracks Rewire they do not match. If I set the same tempo in the Singletracks tempo-dialog, ex 120/(120) the 2 will pass bars simultaneously but they wont sync in sound. I have no idea how to get my Cello in Logic play in sync with that same Cello in Singletracks Rewire.
I can add that in Melodyne Studio Rewire, the sync is perfect. I simply connect Studio by Rewire and import the audio and play.

Hi guys
here is what's causing your problem: if you have a track in, say, 130 BPM and load this in Melodyne editor as a rewire slave, Melodyne will do a tempo analyzation. With many sounds the result of this analyzation will be a variable tempo map, cause Melodyne is misinterpreting bad playing timing as a "wanted" tempo variation. As a result the track will be vary-speeded up and down during playback, which - in this case - is not what you want.
and this is how to solve the problem: - after loading the file into editor stand-alone, open the tempo dialog (the button with the three bullets next to the bpm display in Melodyne) - choose "Specify fixed tempo" and type in the exact tempo of your DAW song (in this example: 130 BPM) - also check the option "Set bar 1 to start of file"
Does this solve your problems?
PS: this will only work when you have a constant tempo in your DAW project. When your song has variable tempo, you can't use the ReWire connection. PPS: creater, you said you use Logic. In this case your workflow will probably be easier, when you simply use Melodyne as a plug-in. We added ReWire support mainly for DAWs (not PT, Logic and the like) that have compatibility issues with Melodyne.
