Hi,
I know that you can change the "transfers" folder that Melodyne uses to store its audio files on a per-project basis. But is it possible to select another folder to serve as Melodyne Editor's default "transfers" audio file folder? I back up my "current projects" hard drive every night incrementally to a portable drive - I'd like to be able to have the default "transfers" folder be on my current projects drive so that I don't have to remember to reassign it with every new project.
Is this possible?
Thanks, Peter

Yes! In Standalone version: select the File | Preferences Menu: - Settings Tab: change "Audio Cache" from default location to a drive & folder of your choice. - Audio Tab: change "Recording Folder" from default location to a drive & folder of your choice. In both instances above, look carefully for little icon with 3 dots ... the change dialog gives you the opportunity to 'Make New Folder'.
The above changes to Standalone forces the same file location settings in the VST plugin when a new instance of ME is inserted into your DAW.

Thanks. FYI I'm using Digital Performer, thus AU files, not VST. Tried this, didn't seem to work...:=(

Sorry I don't know about AU; did you try re-starting the DAW for new settings to take effect? However there 'should' be the opportunity to change folders in the plugin... unlike Standalone, this time there's 2 different Menu items to chase: - Settings | File Manager for "Recordings" = 'Store Transfers to'. - Settings | Preferences menu for "Audio Cache".

Thanks - I'll try that. But first, two questions:
• Should I specify different folders for "audio cache" and "transfers"?
• Since presumably the "audio cache" holds only temporary files, does that need to be on the system drive? (And am I right that it only holds temp files?)
Much appreciated!

It is only necessary to backup "Recordings" or "transfers" folder ultimately. "Audio Cache" folder does not have to be on System drive.

Yes! The AU plug-in's "transfers" folder appears to be following the "recordings" folder in the Singletrack (standalone) version of Melodyne. Will be able to confirm this once I actually record something and "transfer" it today, but it appears to be working. Thanks again.
